Everything at The Sail Loft has been designed with visitors in mind, providing all the essential facilities to allow you to enjoy your stay.
From the moment you arrive you’ll discover plenty of free parking right by the front door. For those on foot or two wheels, there’s also an outside wash down area for boots or bicycle cleaning – as well as a totally secure store for up to 25 bikes.
In reception you’ll find maps and information about Portsoy and the surrounding area. Throughout the public areas we tell the story of Portsoy, its industry and people and The Sail Loft’s history and resurrection.
The open-plan kitchen and dining area is fully equipped with hobs, microwave ovens, fridges, kettles, toasters and lots of work surfaces, plus pots, pans, crockery and cutlery. Like home from home, there shouldn’t be anything you can’t find – and if there is please do tell us!
There’s plenty of comfortable seating and tables where you can dine in whatever group size suits you. We also provide high chairs for our younger guests.
The lounge is the perfect place to relax, especially around the wood burning stove. It’s also equipped for presentations with a video projector – perfect for family or group get-togethers or business seminars. There are lots of books, toys and games to keep you entertained!
You’ll find all your practical needs catered for too with our fully equipped laundrette with ironing board and iron, and a drying room with rinse-out facilities.
Bed linen is provided and we ask that you do not use your own. Towels are available to hire for a small charge. Each bed is assigned a secure locker of good size which is easily able to store an iPad, camera, mobile phone and personal documents.
Free Wifi is available throughout and you will also find ample power sockets throughout the building!
Unlike many of the basic hostels in Scotland, we’ve got great facilities outside as well: lots of seating areas including a decked area adjacent to the kitchen, and the walled garden with BBQ facilities to enjoy on sunny days. Soothe away those stresses in our wood fired hot tub, available all year round, to be enjoyed in the sun, in the snow or at night under starry skies – or even possibly the Northern Lights if you’re lucky!
To make your stay here comfortable and enjoyable when bringing children, we have the following available for your stay:
